"We should always have a goal in our lives, or We should be a Goal-oriented Person." You might have heard this many times in your life from parents, teachers, relatives, or
even friends.

But what is Goal Orientation all about? Is it important for Success?

Let us look a little more into it.

What is the meaning of Goal Orientation?

setting a path to success
'Goal' is some long-term or short-term action which we want to achieve. It could be as simple as reading a page of a book or as complicated as completing an entire book.

Goal orientation or Setting Goals can be stated as something we want to pursue or achieve in our life.

Goals are basically of two types- Short-term Goals and Long-term Goals.

      ● A short-term goal is something which you want to achieve within a short period, like within a year or less.

      ● A long-term goal is something which is on your list, and you want to achieve it in the future. It could be within 5 years or even 50 years from now.

What are the benefits of setting goals in life?

● Setting goals helps us to become clear about what we want to achieve in life and what are the things that are important for us.

● When we start to work towards our goals, we find a purpose to live life. We are now purposeful and determined.

● A goal-oriented person tends to have confidence in life because he knows what he is doing and, therefore, has a focus towards life.

How to Set Goals for the Future?

As every person is unique, their motto in life is different, so their way of achieving it would also be different. There are no criteria of how to achieve our goals as it depends on ourselves, but yes, there are a few tips which can help us achieve it in a better way.

1) Writing down our plans

The first step of Goal Orientation should always be being clear about what we want in our life and what our plans are. When we write down everything we have on our mind and everything we want to achieve, we become clear in our heads. When we know our goals, we become a goal-oriented person.

2) Dividing them into Short-term and Long-term goals

After writing down everything, it's time to split it into two parts, i.e., long-term and short-term goals. Analyze what is urgent, or you want to achieve within a year or less and write it down under Short-term goals and what are the things you want to achieve in future and write those under Long-term.

3) Write down the steps or measures required in order to achieve it

As every goal is different, the procedure to achieve them is also different. For example, if you have a goal of scoring good marks in an exam, you have to know what your syllabus is, when you want to complete it, and how much time you are willing to dedicate in order to prepare for it. If you write down every step, you will become clear, and there will be no confusion in your head.

4) Implementation

It is the last but most crucial step of Goal-orientation. Now that you know what all needs to be done, it's time to act. We all tend to make many plans in our day-to-day lives, but if we are not willing to take action, it is of no use. In order to achieve your goals, you will have to put in some work. There is no shortcut for Success in life.

Doing Smart Work rather than Hard Work

You must have heard that famous quote that says, "Hard work is the Key to Success", but in reality ", Smart work is the real Key to Success".

Let's look through this small story to understand better.

There were two people in a village- Ankit and Aman. They both had - one cow whose milk they used to collect every morning and then would go to sell it in the city because there they used to get more money. But travelling so much used to take up too much of their time. One day, Aman suggested to Ankit that they should stop going to the city market and sell their milk only in the village. But Ankit did not agree as he thought Aman was just being lazy, and as he was getting more money in the city, he refused to agree to this idea. So, Ankit kept going to the city as usual, whereas Aman started selling milk in the village only. Though he earned less money initially, in the time that was saved because of not travelling, he started doing other small work in the village as well as started saving the money earned from it little by little and with that, bought one more cow, then one more and with that, he started a milk shop and started earning even more. So, you see how Ankit and Aman worked for the same number of hours, but because Aman worked smartly and invested his time in working rather than travelling, he achieved Success in life.

How to Become Successful in Life?

short term goals and long term goals
We all are living in this world. Even if you think you are not privileged enough to get any opportunity in your life, trust me, there are thousands of opportunities waiting for you.

There may be some people who get everything very easily because of being privileged, and many people out there are struggling for even the basics of life. There are yet others who are eager to learn and therefore sign up for courses to develop their skills on the personal and professional front with the aim of achieving success. But often we find ourselves signing up for courses that are not in line with our life's mission because of a lack of clarity. To solve this issue, we provide you access to the life stage timeline on our website, where you can identify your goals and life's purpose.

But to be honest, at the end of the day, it is in our hands how we want our lives to turn out. A poor person working day and night can become rich because of his hard work, and a rich man can become poor by gambling away all his money in the blink of an eye. In the end, it all depends upon how we want to shape our lives.

The main problem is that we all want to achieve Success, but we tend to make excuses in life.

There is a great quote that says,
"An excuse is nothing more than a self-imposed roadblock".

We have to understand that the life that we have got is very precious. Not everyone is lucky enough to wake up to see the day, and if we are getting to see it, we should make use of it. Now, this absolutely does not mean that we should keep working every day and exhaust ourselves. Giving ourselves breaks and, amid all this chaos, enjoying life is also very important.

When you are disciplined, you will surely be able to achieve your goals.

In a nutshell, we could say that,

"Maintaining a balance between Enjoyment and Self-discipline is the real Secret to Success."
